I’m Not an Expert
It’s true. I’m not really an expert on much of anything. I could probably make a pretty strong case for web design, but even in my profession I’m something of a Jack of All Trades—I know only enough about Javascript, PHP, Photoshop, Acrobat, typography, etc. to do my job and solve problems for my clients—the only areas where I’m really quite knowledgable are in (X)HTML and CSS.
And, yes, I’ll be writing on web design. But by no means do I intend to restrict myself to that area; I’ll be writing on a wide range of topics. And, no, I’m by no means a professional writer either.
I’m not a professional photographer—though I’ve spent my fair share of time in photo labs—but I’ll be writing on photography.
I’m neither a food critic nor a chef—though I know my way around a kitchen and can appreciate a good meal be it fine cuisine or diner fare—but I’ll be writing on food.
I’m no adventurer—though I’ve done my share of traveling—but I’ll be writing on travel in general.
That should be plenty to make my point clear: I fully intend to write on whatever strikes my fancy, regardless of whether or not I’m particularly qualified. I’ll do what research I can on a topic and draw on my own experiences as appropriate. And I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent and articulate person. I should be able to hold my own reasonably well.
All that said, don’t hesitate to jump into comments and disagree with me. All viewpoints are welcome; all I ask is that you maintain at least a smidgen of decorum.
For the time being, you may notice that the site isn’t really finished yet. On some level, webpages are never finished, but this one particularly so. The archives need to be whipped into shape, neither the links nor the about section exist, and I’ve no doubt I’ll be making modifications to the stylesheet. I just felt the need to get some content here, the last bits of the site will come around eventually.
